Today, the FDT team has releases a small update – 5.6.2. Since the 5.6 release, we’ve received some great feedback from the community and have fixed numerous issues. With this release, we’ve fixed any issues that might prevent anyone from using Apache Flex with FDT. While we’re continuing to work on an even tighter integration with Apache Flex, this is the first step. Below is a video tutorial on how to download Apache Flex and get it working with FDT.

During the development of this release we really went deep down to FDT’s roots to improve its performance. What we achieved is a massive performance optimization for nearly every situation and project, especially big gaming projects.

To download the FDT 5.5 Beta just go to our special code site and enter the special code FDT55BETA. An E-Mail with a beta license key (valid until May 8th) and the download links will be send to you right after registration.

Simon is correct. Updating a blog post with a bold ‘Update’ is the convention when news happens on a blog post. For example, even on high profile news site you’ll often see ‘Update’, ‘Update 2′ …. at the bottom of the page. Sometimes these update blurbs go so far as to invalidate the entire post.
It’s best to not go back and rewrite blog posts – but keep them for historical reasons.
With taking down the download link we updated the blogpost with the following comment in bold: [Update:] The Download of FDT 5.5 Beta is currently not available since we’re working on the public release. Stay tuned.
We don’t believe in changing facts in blogposts that were already posted days or weeks ago that’s why we’re always updating them with a notice like this.
if the link has been taken down, why the fuck are you still talking about it on the page above – what kinda cms you running that you can’t edit the page to reflect reality – ie if you have removed the download link, do not speak of the download link

Is this release coming soon? I only ask because my current version of fdt5 max is becoming utterly unusable with a fairly straightforward (but large) class. Have wasted too much time trying to fix the problem close to release of our product, not fun

FDT 5.5. will be free for FDT 5 customers. When the finial press release goes out it will have it in there.

Also, I would like to know if this release is functional if we paid for the FDT5 Max, or if it’s an upgrade? (sorry if this has been answered before, I have not seen the info)
