Today, the FDT team has releases a small update – 5.6.2. Since the 5.6 release, we’ve received some great feedback from the community and have fixed numerous issues. With this release, we’ve fixed any issues that might prevent anyone from using Apache Flex with FDT. While we’re continuing to work on an even tighter integration with Apache Flex, this is the first step. Below is a video tutorial on how to download Apache Flex and get it working with FDT.

As already announced in our blog post earlier, we made some changes to the license management: with FDT 5.5 we will be introducing a new subscription licensing model. This is something we have been asked about for quite a while and we are proud to announce that we finally integrated it. We will keep our former “One-time purchase” licensing model as well – subscriptions will just be another option to purchase FDT.
With FDT’s subscription option you are going to be much more flexible in projects and you won’t have to worry about upgrades anymore. Now you can easily decide to add a license to your team for a limited period of time without buying a full FDT Max version. This way you are always working with the latest version and, in fact, save money.
Example
Imagine you have a small team of three developers and you’re acquiring a project that needs at least five developers. You will need two additional freelancers to work with FDT as well. With FDT’s subscription you can now simply buy them a license for the exact duration of the project. Let’s say the project takes three months. Usually you would have bought two full licenses, 499.- EUR each. Now you just subscribe to FDT for three months for a total of 139.- EUR each. This means you are saving 360.- EUR per license. Pretty neat, huh?
How to purchase?
You can simply go to our purchase page, decide which subscription model best fits your needs, and order your choice. After the initial payment, which is dated directly after your purchase, you will get a key which you have to activate in FDT. If you don’t want to use FDT Max anymore, simply cancel your subscription with the link that you got with your receipt. You can give notice of termination at any time with effect to the next payment period. We always charge you before you start your next subscription period. This means for a monthly subscription period we charge you monthly, and for a six months subscription period we charge you once in six months.

Hi, I have bought a 3 month subscription, I have already downloaded & am using FDT, however I don’t have access to the advanced features (I keep getting message: “this feature is not available in FDT free”,

As Arnold has already mentioned, the option for the ‘one-time-purchase’ cannot be found anywhere. I need to purchase a full FDT license with urgency, but cannot find any option to do so apart from the subscription option.
Hi, where do I find the info on “one-time-purchase”? Right now there seems only to be subscription. And for me subscription wouldn’t be a choice. I rather would prefer to upgrade my FDT 4 Max by a one time payment. Thanks for some comment!

Hey Adam,
While Adobe does offer Flash Builder as part of their subscription suite, Flash Builder is updated (with bug fixes and new features) only along with the rest of the suite. We plan to continue to offer new fixes and new features for the latest AIR SDK releases.
The other point is, are the other applications needed in your workflow. If you daily use Photoshop / Illustrator / Flash Builder …. then it is a good idea. If you are focused on just developing, then all you need is FDT. This is the case for me. I used to use PS, Illustrator…. but now I just code.
This seems like rather poor pricing considering the entire Adobe suite is ~€710 per year with subscription pricing and includes Flash Builder amongst a plethora of other useful applications!
