Today, the FDT team has released a small update – 5.6.2. Since the 5.6 release, we’ve received some great feedback from the community and have fixed numerous issues. Thanks to everyone who gave feedback to the team via Twitter, JIRA, and talking with us directly.
We’re committed to always making FDT more powerful, more stable and faster. Thanks to community feedback and support, we’re able to keep working on this.
With this release, we’ve fixed issues that might prevent anyone from using Apache Flex with FDT. While we’re continuing to work on an even tighter integration with Apache Flex, this is the first step. Below is a video tutorial on how to download Apache Flex and get it working with FDT.
Hi guys, can’t update FDT to 5.6.2
When checking for updates it says that everything is up to date & last checking was 22th of Dec, but it still 5.6.1.1514.
What am I doing wrong?
Hi Alan,
I am sorry for spamming your post with Flex questions!
I got the new AIR pp, and finally have Flex 4.5 installed, I am so happy
did contact the apache group, and they helped me
I did not know it was just some bug fixes, I must have missed that in the reading, and I though Adobe donated the whole framework to Apache.
thanks so much for everything!
johnny

For some help, please post your question over at stackoverflow:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/tagged/fdt
That is a better place to get help.
i have also some problem,resource doesn’t save automaticaly,and asked to me,for example: “main.as” has been modified,Save change ?
and when i want to create a new fdt project, there aren’t flash project item from Web(web project type)!there is only Web item!i don’t know, maybe this is a new feature of this update!
and when i compile my AS file,it don’t show my swf file in bin folder from FDT Explorer but when i explore(Quick Explore) that folder, there is my compiled swf.
thanks.
@Johnny
It’s really up to Adobe and the Apache Flex group. I would contact them and ask them to provide a better packaging (although I’m sure they are aware of it)
Remember, not all of the Flex SDK has been donated to Apache, which is why it’s required to assemble it by hand.
Currently, I would recommend not using the Apache Flex SDK. The only difference between it and the Flex SDK offered by Adobe are a few, minor bug fixes in the Flex Framework. Otherwise, there is no gain from using this SDK.
Even the Apache foundation mentioned that the goal of this release was to issue an official release – not to advance the Flex SDK.
I tried that way too, just with the required parts, and also failed. I guess I will try to install from the binaries. There should be a easy ay to get the SDK.
i have also this problem.
when i click install apache flex
it show me aborted instalition!
Try just downloading the required parts. If that doesn’t work, then perhaps the links which the installer uses are no loger valid.
Then try it by hand:

here is a screenshot of what happens(sorry about the noise) – http://www.screencast.com/t/RESN3FeI
I know you can’t help me with the AIR app, just want to get flex 4.5 into FDT 5.
Is there any other way I could get Flex 4.8 and put it into FDT 5?
thanks,
Johnny
It should do that anyway – at least it does for me. Sometimes refactoring may cause a popup for a file save. If this is the case, look at Preferences>FDT>Editor and click on ‘Edit auto save on refactoring’.

@Johnny
Could you be more specific? If the (AIR application) installer fails, that’s not something I can help with. I don’t know any of the details associated with it.
I tried to to install Flex 4.8 as you show, but the insulation always gets aborted. Do you have any hints on what could be going wrong?
thanks,
Johnny
