FDT Beta update site

We have installed a second update site for FDT 3. At http://fdt.powerflasher.com/update_beta/ we will post the most recent versions of FDT.

Note that theese versions are not completly tested. Such you should update from here only if you can take the risk that a feature may be broken (you can switch back to older versions at any time through "Help->Software Updates->Manage Configuration").

After we are convinced that the build is good we copy it to the official update site (http://fdt.powerflasher.com/update/).

Such users that are after the latest changes could update from the beta site while users that want a better tested software can update from the official site. New versions on the beta site will not be announced, new versions on the official site will.

The beta site now will also contains the stand alone installer for FDT 3.1

Would it be possible to include the update site in a dedicated preference pane, in order for the customer to choose the type of update needed. That way, with automatic update preference turned to true, the mechanism would be fairly easy.

I think I saw Aptana have done this in one of there release.

I get a 403 when I try to access the beta site (both from webbrowser and eclipse)?

The latest beta does not work under Eclipse 3.4 - not all FDT plugins displayed in application about info, not recognized in the preferences.

Full 3.4 Support will come in a few days.
Ganymede has a new Update mechanism (p2) but you can still install FDT with all update mechanism (it's just impossible to uninstall it

)
Anyway the full support will be released next week.

Thanks for the info. I did not use the p2 mechanism - I downloaded the ZIP and installed via the new Eclipse 3.4 "dropins" feature (link files in eclipse/dropins folder). All other plugins work fine.

BTW - FDT version 3.0.7.1010 works in Eclipse 3.4 Ganymede.

Still no luck with 3.1.0.1003 and Ganymede - 3.0.7.1010 works. What's up with that?

Hi Maxim,

no, I did not - I was too lazy. I keep all my Eclipse plugins in one location outside the Eclipse application folder and point to them by creating link files into the dropins folder - this way I can easyly update Eclipse and/or reinstall without affecting all plugins. I was under the assumption that once I have access to the plugin archive (either in ZIP format or unpacked), it does not matter how to make Eclipse use it.

Eclipse 3.4.1 throws an error on trying to install the latest beta 3.1.1.1010.

I am not behind a or firewall and have no proxy setup.

The error, which has been happening for over a week, alerts:
