With this release the FDT Explorer can present projects in groups:
Each Project Group is a set of workspace projects (i.e.: Working Set). Each project can be a member of one group and can not be shared among groups. Project Groups are logical structures shown inside FDT Explorer. Neither they represent nor they change the folder structure of the workspace.
A new wizard is available to create a new Project Group:
Sometimes after update the new Project Wizard is not directly visible in this menu. In this case please reset the FDT perspective at Windows/Perspective/Reset Perspective.
The Project Group wizard asks for a name and the member projects:
With the Project Group properties Dialog (available via right click menu)
the user could change the name and the contained member projects of a Project Group.
Hi Christ,
Sadly it is not possible to run FDT without contact to our key server since FDT is subscription based.
I have been hoping to determine if FDT can be installed and used in a closed environment, where the installation can not reach the activation/license server. If someone from FDT could contact me, I would appreciate it.
And I tried performing a drag-and-drop again. Seems to work now. I guess it was fixed in the latest update. Thanks again
Ah, sorry for such a late response. Work and life distracted me. Thanks for responding with the answer to my inquiry. That works for me 🙂
Hi John Barrett,
working sets only filter what you see in the FDT Explorer. In the first screenshot you can see the Project Group WebDemos containing two projects WebDemo and Webdemo2. Both are presented as children of Project Group WebDemos. Project AirDemo and Project AirDesktop are not grouped inside Project Groups so they are presented as usual.
In case WebDemos would be a simple working set FDT Explorer would show all four projects at toplevel without grouping. If additionally this working set is selected only WebDemo and WebDemo2 are presented and all other projects are not presented due to the filtering of the working set.
So Project Groups changes the presentation of the workspace different to working sets which simply filter what is presented.
How is this different from “Working Sets”?
Hi Scott Enders,
just right click the Project Group and choose Properties in right click menu.
Please can you describe the circumstance how FDT becomes unresponsive on drag and drop in a comment of this newly created ticket:
http://bugs.powerflasher.com/jira/browse/FDT-3649
Thank you for your feedback
Like this new feature. And I am able to create a new Project Group. But how do I edit an already existing group? If I try to drag a project into the group (from the FDT Explorer) FDT becomes unresponsive and I have to force quit FDT.
