The Idea behind FDT 5 and FDT Free

September 12, 2011 by Carlo Matic

Since last year’s FDT 4 launch, we released five free major updates. With FDT 5 we want to start something even bigger, go further and become technology-independend. Flash and Flex will still be the #1 technologies to go with FDT but with haXe it will also focus on HTML 5, JavaScript, WebGL, PHP as well as technologies for mobile platforms like iOS and Android.

While developing FDT, we realized that the number of editions needed to be reduced. We have taken community feedback and switched to a simple model: With FDT 5 we will introduce FDT Free.

FDT Free is going to replace Pure and Plus and be available for free.

The premium version of FDT is going to stay and still be called FDT Max. FDT Max will not only gain in features, we also decided to reduce the price. As of now FDT will be available for just 499€.

The exact featureset of the versions will be announced with the release. So stay tuned until our next announcement…

As announced yesterday, FDT 5 is coming.

Many of you already asked: “I want to buy FDT now. What about the upgrade then?”. Of course we don’t want to cause any inconvenience for you so we decided to work with a decent grace period.

All costumers who bought FDT 4 Max after August 1st 2011, will get a free upgrade to FDT 5 Max. Until FDT5 is finally released we grant a 20% discount on all editions of FDT.

FDT @ FOTB

August 25, 2011 by Carlo Matic

We are glad again to be sponsoring this year’s Flash on the Beach in the beautiful city of Brighton, UK. The prestigious conference for designers and coders likewise will take place September 11 through September 14. According to tradition we will have a surprise in our luggage

“Surprise” was the word making you keep reading, right? But save your false hope, we promise it will stay secret until FOTB! If you want to attend the revealing in person – there are still tickets left; otherwise have no worries, we will of course share it on the usual channels such as blogs, Facebook and Twitter.

About FOTB

Flash on the Beach’s goals are to bring the best minds in design and development to share, educate and inspire. The conference offers the opportunity to get hands-on technical training and hear breaking news from the web community. It is a valuable opportunity to network with peers, renowned speakers and us, the team of Powerflasher and FDT.

Like every year we invite you not only to our booth to respond to your questions and comments on FDT, we also like to have a good time with you and our famous repowering Dutch energy drinks. Here are a few impressions from last year.

Of course …

… there is also something to win. Among all FOTB attendees we draw the winner of one FDT 4 Max version.

See you in Brighton!
